The Future of Trinidad and Tobago’s Fashion Industry

Stimulating and facilitating the business development and export activity of the fashion industry in Trinidad and Tobago to generate national wealth. That’s the mandate of The Trinidad and Tobago Fashion Company Limited (FashionTT), a state agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

With this in mind, FashionTT, together with Syntegra Change Architects Limited, successfully completed and launched the Strategic Plan for the Fashion Industry of Trinidad and Tobago on 15th August, 2015; a plan that clearly articulates the strategic direction for the growth and sustainability of the fashion industry for the next 3 – 5 years.

According to Lisa-Marie Daniel, General Manager of FashionTT, “Trinidad and Tobago is overflowing with culture, creativity and talent. The strategic plan for the fashion industry will harness and capitalize on these infinite resources to strengthen the capacity of local fashion designers and to increase revenue so that the fashion industry becomes a significant and sustainable contributor to national GDP.”

To ensure that this happens in the near future, three major strategic pillars have been identified:

  1. Operational excellence
  2. Customer relationships
  3. Product and culture

What does this mean exactly? More details on the fashion industry’s new way forward are in the complete strategic plan which can be found at  www.fashiontt.co.tt/strategy
