MusicTT salutes the life and works of Winsford ‘Joker’ Devine

Port of Spain, 22nd March 2021: The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT) is saddened by the news of the passing of one of Trinidad and Tobago’s greatest songwriters, Winston ‘Joker’ Devine.

Devine was a talented man of the soil who composed over 500 calypsos, including well-known songs such as “Saltfish”, “This World Don’t Like Nothing Black”, “Phillip My Dear”, “Take Me Back Africa”, “Too Young to Soca” “In Time to Come”, “Progress”, “In Time to Come”, “Somebody”, and “Steelband Woman”. His compositions have been sung by many titan calypsonians including ‘Crazy’, ‘Sparrow’, Machel Montano, ‘Singing Francine’, ‘Mighty Trini’, Charlene Boodram, ‘Sugar Aloes’, Marcia Miranda, Karen Asche, ‘Poser’, ‘Baron’, ‘Explainer’, ‘Blakie’ and ‘King Austin’.
