MusicTT Congratulates Trinbagonian Marlin Awards Nominees

Positive nominations at the Marlin Awards

Port of Spain, 18th May 2022: The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT) is proud of all the local artists who have recently been nominated for the 2022 Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards which will take place on Sunday, July 3rd 2022 at the Myles E. Munroe Diplomat Center, Nassau, Bahamas.

Trinidad and Tobago Artists have received 136 nominations total in 43 out of 54 categories. Positive, a local artist, is the Co-Top Male and Co-Top Overall Artist Nominee for the 2022 awards with 18 nominations. Sharing the Co-Top Male and Co-Top Overall Artist nominations with Positive is his colleague Kevin Downswell of Jamaica. Other artists include Nigel Lewis, Gates Praise, Vanessa Clarke, Brandon Best, Sherwin Gardner and Adahna Chadee, to name a few. These artists were nominated in categories such as Outstanding Reggae Vocal Performance, Male and Female; Outstanding Song; Outstanding Album; Outstanding Hip Hop Recording; Outstanding Inspirational Recording, Male and Female; and many more categories.

The Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards was launched on March 16th 1996 by recording artist, radio personality and media executive Kevin Harris. The awards were first known as the Bahamian Gospel Music Marlin Awards and were established to recognize outstanding achievements in Bahamian Gospel Music from 1996 to 2000.

In the year 2000, the awards were expanded to include eight (8) Caribbean Gospel categories and in 2002 the awards evolved even further to incorporate other styles of Caribbean Gospel Music and were subsequently rebranded the Caribbean Gospel Music Marlin Awards. Awards are distributed in over Fifty (50) categories including New Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year. There are also a number of special awards including the President’s Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
