Port of Spain, February 16 2023: The Trinidad and Tobago Music Company Limited (MusicTT) is celebrating its latest signature event which added a welcomed live event to the 2023 Carnival calendar. The Lunchtime Jam delivered top local performances which kept the workers and Port of Spain community partying throughout their lunch hour.
MusicTT’s Live Music District presented its Lunchtime Jam on the Brian Lara Promenade (stage area), Port of Spain on Wednesday 15th February. Lunchtime Jam, which was free to the public, featured exciting live performances and was hosted by BASE, whose energy kept the crowd hyped for the entire show.
Opening the event was the Trinidad and Tobago Police Steel Band. Their renditions of both classic and the latest soca tunes on the national instrument had everyone dancing to the beat. Following the band were Spotlight alumni EJ Entertainment, also on the national instrument and Aisha Noel, who both kept the exciting momentum going. Also performing were Leonce, hailing from Brooklyn; Lil Bitts, a crowd favourite; Viking Ding Dong with his hit DAP; GI, three-time Chutney Soca Monarch winner and, to end the show on an extremely high note, Olatunji. Olatunji had the audience swinging to the Engine Room and singing along as he paid homage to the late Blaxx with ‘Leh Go’.
“We are delighted by the response received from yesterday’s audience following the live performances by these talented entertainers. I think the flag men gave everyone that extra boost of excitement (jokingly). A special thank you to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, POS City Corporation, the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Trade and Industry as always for their unwavering support in hosting this event.” – Melissa Jimenez, General Manager, MusicTT.
The last LMD signature event was Christmas in NAPA, which was held in December 2022. Tourists disembarking from the numerous cruise ships since the season started in November 2022 have been greeted, to their utmost delight, with live performances by various steel bands and singers. This partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and the Arts will continue to the end of the cruise ship season in April 2023.
