ODOS Experience 2024

Port of Spain, November 20th, 2024: The path to creative success begins right here in Trinidad and Tobago. This weekend (November 22–24), CreativeTT, RVRB X team up with Question Mark Entertainment team to host the ODOS Experience 2024—a series of capacity-building sessions designed for the Orange Economy. The Orange Economy encompasses industries rooted in creativity, culture, and innovation. It plays a vital role in generating economic growth, job creation, and cultural enrichment, with the potential to position Trinidad and Tobago as a global leader in creative exports.

Each masterclass session will feature industry professionals with connections to renowned entities such as Disney, Netflix, and Apple. Held in a classroom-like setting at the Normandie Hotel in St. Ann’s, the workshops will simulate real-world scenarios, allowing participants to refine their projects’ export, expansion and presentation to streaming companies, record labels, major clients and investors.

Some key speakers include Amanda Amann, a Pro Max and Clio award-winning Founder and CEO of Reel Amann with a demonstrated history of working in the entertainment industry for over 20 years; Rory Thost, an American actor and voice actor, formerly of Participant Media/Netflix; and Brad Hemmings, Entertainment consultant specializing in the areas of artist development, management and booking, with over 20 years’ experience in global booking and touring. These Executives aim to equip participants with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly competitive global marketplace for music, film, and other creative sectors.

The weekend kicks off with an exclusive Networking Mixer hosted by CreativeTT and ODOS at District in Woodbrook on Friday, November 22, from 6 PM to 10 PM. This mixer offers ODOS members the chance to connect with industry stakeholders, career professionals, corporate executives, and Government personnel. Attendees will engage with the vision of the Orange Economy, guided by the creative talents driving its growth.

Melissa Jimenez, General Manager of Music, CreativeTT, highlights the significance of this collaboration for the music industry: “Trinidad and Tobago’s music sector holds immense potential for global impact. By connecting local talent with international experts, we are fostering opportunities for growth and ensuring our creatives can compete globally.”

Saturday and Sunday (November 23–24) will feature an exciting lineup of sessions:

  • “Hey, the Client Called” with Amanda Amann: Learn the process of creating a big-budget commercial, from concept to execution.
  • “The Streaming Principle” with Rory Thost: Gain insights into documentary development for streaming platforms like Netflix.
  • “The Keys to Global Touring” with Brad Hemmings: Explore the fundamentals of building an international tour in this virtual session moderated by Melissa Jimenez.

Leslie-Ann Wills-Caton, General Manager and Film Commissioner at CreativeTT, shared her excitement about the potential impact on the local film industry: “The ODOS Experience provides filmmakers with opportunities to refine their craft, build global connections, and enhance export readiness, showcasing Trinidad and Tobago’s talent and production quality.”

This is the second annual ODOS Experience in Trinidad, with plans to make it a bi-annual event starting next year. By bringing the best minds together, the event aims to transform the local creative landscape, attract multi-million-dollar projects to the region, and empower professionals to elevate their craft. “Our dream is to expand globally, and we believe that education and partnerships are essential for achieving this success. To replicate the growth of the Orange economy in countries like South Korea, Brazil, and parts of Africa, we must embrace a more collaborative mindset at home.” – Simon Baptiste, Founder, Question Mark Entertainment.
