Port of Spain, November 26th, 2024: In today’s saturated creative market, standing out is more important than ever. CreativeTT and RVRB X joined forces with Question Mark Entertainment to present the transformative ODOS Experience 2024. These sessions aimed to empower professionals in the Orange Economy through expert-led masterclasses.
The ODOS Experience started with an exclusive Networking Mixer at District in Woodbrook. This event allowed ODOS members to connect with industry professionals and stakeholders.
Throughout the weekend, participants also engaged in masterclass sessions such as:
In the session “Hey, the Client Called” with Amanda Amann, participants learned about creating big-budget commercials from concept to execution. Amanda shared pivotal knowledge, tools and strategies to help those in attendance execute seamless productions.
“The Streaming Principle” with Rory Thost: For non-US filmmakers, film festivals are significant opportunities to gain attention. Rory Thost shared a list of international open calls to help with this. Additionally, engaging sales agents can effectively represent films at markets like Mitcom and Cannes. Rory also provided a list of reliable sales agents. He also explained that successfully approaching Netflix often involves connections or a company with a first-look deal. Actively seeking connections is essential. Ultimately, stories need to resonate internationally to achieve success.
“The Keys to Global Touring” with Brad Hemmings: Fundamentals of building an international tour. In this session, participants learned the importance of concert touring to showcase one’s talent as well as build revenue and fanbase. A concert connects musicians with their fans, creating a shared magical experience that only live music can provide, while touring amplifies the reach. Key elements discussed in the session included Career Opportunities, Tour Planning, Touring Team Roles and Responsibilities and Touring Best Practices.
“This has been my first experience at ODOS and it has been amazing. I’ve seen some familiar faces but I have also met some new industry experts through networking. These sessions have cemented the power of collaboration and getting together to make films.” – Nicole Greene, Production Manager/Producer.
“Strategic planning, finding the right people for specialized roles and efficiency in execution. The Brad Hemmings session in a nutshell. A masterclass indeed.” – Theodore Celestin, Strategic Entertainment Consultant.
“I really enjoyed the sessions and hearing these experts talk about the creative industry. It was very beneficial to see the community coming together in this forum and hearing the different perspectives from both my peers and the international mentors/facilitators.” – Lorraine O’Connor, General Manager, C15 Studios.
The ODOS experience continues on 29th and 30th of November with mentor Jason Cowan. Jason will take a crew through the progressions of shooting indoor and outdoor scenes for a sequence from a short screenplay. Here each filmmaker gets to understand how to use light effectively, tricks of the trade, and ways to tell the best story effectively. Friday (Nov 29) will be a night session and Saturday (Nov 30) will be a day session.
This is the second annual ODOS Experience in Trinidad, with plans to make it a bi-annual event starting next year. By bringing the best minds together, the event aims to transform the local creative landscape, attract multi-million-dollar projects, and empower professionals to elevate their craft.
