Delivering the feature address was Senator the Honourable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry, under whose purview this project falls.
AMPT is the new online platform where venues can discover and book Artists, and where the public can view an events calendar for the Live Music District and other live music events happening in Trinidad and Tobago. Its feature set has been customized to meet the needs of our local music landscape.
The app allows for online venue information, booking of performances, content from past performances, information on online performers and wayfinding functionality. Artist ratings are also part of the app with sponsor integration coming soon.
The event also saw the local launch of an intellectual property video, born out of the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) mission to lead the development of a balanced and effective international IP system that enables innovation and creativity for the benefit of all. The video titled ‘Building Respect for IP’ will be the second of its kind in the world and the first in our region featuring Soca music from Erphaan Alves and Renuka Mahabir, Trinidad and Tobago’s landscape and prominent buildings. The video was launched internationally to over 191 countries on the 2nd September in Geneva, Switzerland by WIPO to rave reviews. This project was spearheaded by both the Trinidad and Tobago Intellectual Property Office (TTIPO) and MusicTT.
General Manager of MusicTT, Ms. Melissa Jimenez, stated “This app and IP video is a step in the right direction and a testament to MusicTT’s commitment to help artist development, utilizing technology. We are excited by this launch and what it means for the sector moving forward. We continue to be humble and grateful to our various stakeholders for the support to propel these initiatives forward”
